COME INTO MY PARLOR

People remain skeptical of Fran’s abilities despite her achievements with Teacher, and so, accused of playing favorites, the Guild Master assigns the duo a difficult mission to prove their worth。 Fran and Teacher don’t much care what anyone thinks of them, but once they venture into the snare-filled Spider’s Lair, even they realize they may have bitten off more than they can chew…

This was better than volume one, but I still ended up skimming sections and I kind of rushed the end to get it over with。It's the system stuff。 If you scrapped all the massive lists of stats and skill descriptions, the pacing would be better。 Unfortunately, you'd also make the book half as long。 Massive blocks of test doing nothing aside from listing skill names is boring。 Sorry。 It is。Also, this book could do with a good proofreader。Aside from that, the story is less tedious than book one, havi This was better than volume one, but I still ended up skimming sections and I kind of rushed the end to get it over with。It's the system stuff。 If you scrapped all the massive lists of stats and skill descriptions, the pacing would be better。 Unfortunately, you'd also make the book half as long。 Massive blocks of test doing nothing aside from listing skill names is boring。 Sorry。 It is。Also, this book could do with a good proofreader。Aside from that, the story is less tedious than book one, having action and something to hold your interest all the way through。 Though starting with a cooking lesson was less than ideal。 Aside from the cooking lesson, stuff happens and fight descriptions were more exciting。 The author is improving there。As I said, better than book one。 Also, this should look amazing as an anime。。。 assuming the screenwriter is any good。 I wouldn't necessarily recommend this series, but I wouldn't stop anyone reading it either。 。。。more

After the long grind of the first volume, this one finally packs some nice action, with two big stories about two different dungeon runs that turn dangerous。 It remains a grindy read, but we can see more of Fran and the world in this one, so it was more fun to read overall。 At this point I just assume everybody is more or less role-playing in a video game and don't try to make it deeper than it is。 After the long grind of the first volume, this one finally packs some nice action, with two big stories about two different dungeon runs that turn dangerous。 It remains a grindy read, but we can see more of Fran and the world in this one, so it was more fun to read overall。 At this point I just assume everybody is more or less role-playing in a video game and don't try to make it deeper than it is。 。。。more

Honestly, if it’s one thing I wasn’t expecting from this series, it was depth。 I binge read this in one day, and it took about all day。 I still have minor complaints, but for the most part they’re too small for me to be picky over。 The story flows well, and while character depth isn’t the author’s immediate strong suit, there was more improvement in this novel then I expected。 I felt like book 1 was a light, entertaining read。 This second volume is less light, but not heavy in nature。 It grounds Honestly, if it’s one thing I wasn’t expecting from this series, it was depth。 I binge read this in one day, and it took about all day。 I still have minor complaints, but for the most part they’re too small for me to be picky over。 The story flows well, and while character depth isn’t the author’s immediate strong suit, there was more improvement in this novel then I expected。 I felt like book 1 was a light, entertaining read。 This second volume is less light, but not heavy in nature。 It grounds the lighthearted nature in good storytelling。 。。。more

Slicing His Way Into Your HeartThe adventures of Black Cat Fran and Enchanted Sword Teacher continues! I gave the series a chance after the first Volume, but it doesn't get better, so I'm dropping it。The writer is just not good。 He says it's his first work and it shows。 That is the whole problem here。 The writing is boring, characters are flat and all enemies are villains so stereotypical, you wonder what kind of interaction the author had with bullies。 Or what social interactions he has period。I may give his future works a try, even if most of the foundation of how the magical world works in thi I gave the series a chance after the first Volume, but it doesn't get better, so I'm dropping it。The writer is just not good。 He says it's his first work and it shows。 That is the whole problem here。 The writing is boring, characters are flat and all enemies are villains so stereotypical, you wonder what kind of interaction the author had with bullies。 Or what social interactions he has period。I may give his future works a try, even if most of the foundation of how the magical world works in this is ripped from other light novels。 Perhaps his next spin on them will be better。 。。。more

The fun continues in volume 2。 We get what feels like 2 arcs in this story - Fran proving herself to the haters and Fran goes on an undead adventure。 The end opened up more questions w Teacher and his existence。 I’m looking forward to more adventures w Teacher and Fran :)

A good second volume which continues Fran and Teacher's adventures。 I do wish that there was something of a long term goal or objective by now, similar to what Arifureta or Konosuba have by their 2nd volumes。 But still a fun read and I'll be diving into volume 3 shortly。 A good second volume which continues Fran and Teacher's adventures。 I do wish that there was something of a long term goal or objective by now, similar to what Arifureta or Konosuba have by their 2nd volumes。 But still a fun read and I'll be diving into volume 3 shortly。 。。。more

I enjoyed this volume。 There is a lot to enjoy in this work。 You get to see Fran evolve as a character and come into her own powers and abilities。 You also get to see more of the world and meet some pretty interesting characters。 You also get a glimpse of some of the horrors that are going on behind the scenes which we didn't see before。 There is also further expansion on the world's systems and how things work, thus further explaining the more RPG elements of the story。However, we also see more I enjoyed this volume。 There is a lot to enjoy in this work。 You get to see Fran evolve as a character and come into her own powers and abilities。 You also get to see more of the world and meet some pretty interesting characters。 You also get a glimpse of some of the horrors that are going on behind the scenes which we didn't see before。 There is also further expansion on the world's systems and how things work, thus further explaining the more RPG elements of the story。However, we also see more of the over-powered element that we could see building in the first book。 During the climax of the story, despite the author creating some tension, it all gets blasted away by the characters not really winning by their own hand, and that's disappointing。 (and very reminiscent of part of the battle against the head orc in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, Vol。 2) I would have rather seen them defeat the big bad for this novel using some kind of creativity, thus showing how much both the protagonist and Fran have come as a pair。 As it is, it feels empty。Still, there is a lot to like about this book。 There is some repetition to the concept of dungeons, and that does feel a bit boring, but it's to be expected in something that is taking elements from RPGLit。 So if you are looking for an interesting isekai, I recommend this series to you as it's not your usual isekai story。 (well, parts are, but still。。。) 。。。more

A straight-up sequel of the first book。Basically, there's a lot of re-used themes from the first book, just with new power levels。 The addition of the non-evil necromancer is what makes the entire storyline work out rather than being just a retelling of the original version。My only regret remains that this is a lightnovel, and not very "meaty"。 I end up wishing the exact same plot and cast would be redone as a more classic novel。 But the book remains worth reading。 A straight-up sequel of the first book。Basically, there's a lot of re-used themes from the first book, just with new power levels。 The addition of the non-evil necromancer is what makes the entire storyline work out rather than being just a retelling of the original version。My only regret remains that this is a lightnovel, and not very "meaty"。 I end up wishing the exact same plot and cast would be redone as a more classic novel。 But the book remains worth reading。 。。。more

A bit of a recycling of the first volume in terms of plot。 See dungeon, raid dungeon, defeat boss。 I suppose that has a lot to do with the repetitive, linear storytelling of video game RPGs on which this series takes its inspiration。 Some threads from the first volume are tied up (maybe), and new ones are introduced along with new allies for Fran and Teacher。 As much as I enjoyed Fran the first time through, there was little to distinguish her here other than the introduction of a few more overp A bit of a recycling of the first volume in terms of plot。 See dungeon, raid dungeon, defeat boss。 I suppose that has a lot to do with the repetitive, linear storytelling of video game RPGs on which this series takes its inspiration。 Some threads from the first volume are tied up (maybe), and new ones are introduced along with new allies for Fran and Teacher。 As much as I enjoyed Fran the first time through, there was little to distinguish her here other than the introduction of a few more overpowered abilities followed by a dues ex machina conclusion。 While I enjoy a good wish fulfillment adventure fantasy story, it seems like the resolutions to the adversity that Fran encounters are very perfunctory and outside of her own wit and action to overcome。 She is a very passive hero besides obliterating “trash mobs。” One of the hallmarks of light novels are the illustrations interspersed throughout。 The ones we get in this volume do nothing to bring settings and characters to life。 They simply show various characters posing or posturing with no context。 As I am not the only reader of this series in my house, I will be visiting the next volume。 Hopefully, things will improve。 。。。more

Falling in to the usual trappings of isekai reincarnation genre works, this volume basically has Fran "proving" herself to her surroundings by basically being supremely overpowered bordering on disbelief。 Despite that, her earnestness and childish, down-to-earth manner does make her a likeable character, especially when it comes to her backstory。 That said, the adventuring parts of the story are decently done if slightly wordy due to the penchant to waste pages on depicting the "status screens", Falling in to the usual trappings of isekai reincarnation genre works, this volume basically has Fran "proving" herself to her surroundings by basically being supremely overpowered bordering on disbelief。 Despite that, her earnestness and childish, down-to-earth manner does make her a likeable character, especially when it comes to her backstory。 That said, the adventuring parts of the story are decently done if slightly wordy due to the penchant to waste pages on depicting the "status screens", a very common isekai trope。 The climax battle in this volume was sufficiently tension-filled, with a surprising twist in the resolution。 While I still wouldn't recommend this work, mostly due to overuse of isekai tropes, casual readers of this genre will find it entertaining enough。 。。。more
